Avoiding one more thrown out couch

This is our couch being reupholstered at Winston's. It was a tough decision. Do We throw out our couch, so I will have another to add to my collection, or are we trying to be less consuming.  Winston told me that many of the better couches are signed by their maker, as you can see the name Vineberg on the second photograph

I am starting to have a backlog again so I will be posted twice a day for a while

Fielding and Walkley NE

going to work - Tuesday June 19 I was wondering to myself if this was the same couch I had seen at this location previously- so I went back through my blog; but could not find the couch in question. So although it did deserve its own post it will have to suffice to put it as an addendum to today's post

going to work - Friday April 6

Cochrane and DecarieSW

at lunch - Monday June 18  These two were beside each other - one of my theories ts that when someone sees a couch being thrown out - they evaluate their own couch and often throw theirs out - funny kind of keeping up with the Joneses

Coronation and Fielding NW

going to work - Monday June 18
Usually they have been across the street- you can see that if you don't mark the location (and I don't have GPS) that it is difficult to determine exactly where it was - tA lot of these buildings have this coloured door....

Gatineau Vernissage

Yesterday I was at the vernissage of Re:InSitu - my two works are behind all those people- below is the couch I found while looking for a place to have a beer before the show! Can't get away from them!

Connaught and Patricia NW and SW

There has been a little bit of pressure on me to find couches so that I won't miss a day so last Tuesday I went a little out of my way and came across two sets of two couches across the street from each other. The lighting was very difficult so I decided to go back the next morning to see if I could get a better photo, only to discover three of the couches gone. At least the resulting photo of the sole leather couch is better than either of the original photos.

going home - Tuesday June 12

Missed it by that much

While I was on holiday in Italy, we turned on the news to hear of a grizzly murder in Montreal. On our return I found out it was on my usual lunch route, and I surmised that I could have found the body or whatever. This week we received the Paris Match with the couch in question photographed at the location Lucy and Decarie NW - (I already have two photos from that location on the blog- but looked through my archives and found five more.

Paris Match

One thing in common at this location is the general mess. Some buildings rarely have unwanted couches and when they do, they are presented nicely; others like this one are almost always a mess.
- it is very interesting to see the evolution of buildings and/or of their tenants - over the years that I have been taking these photos prime locations have all but dried up, and others now have couches more frequently

Coffee and Elmhurst SE

Tuesday June 5
Back from holiday - walked my wife to her quilt group year-end dinner and came across these two. I call this my "shooting fish in a barrel" location as rarely have I not found one when I go by this apartment - Just isn't exactly on my bike route.

While on Holiday in Florence

My wife took a photo of me taking a picture of an unwanted couch - which I posted on instagram - Now I can post it with my picture - worries me a bit that I much prefer my wife's photo

MacDonald and Ellerdale NW

The couch below at the same location was one of the first that I captured. I thought that it would be a prime location - but had to wait more than a year for the next one. Have had a couple lately.

Newman to Highway 20

going to camera club (hanging for exhibit) Saturday May 19.
These three couches were very well camouflaged - so well so that my wife didn't see them the next day on the way to the vernissage

Fielding and Westhill NW

going home - Friday May 18- I talked to these guys who had just carried this couch from Girouard to replace the one on the lawn  (that has bedbugs). I even self promoted my blog with them and showed some of my recent captures on my camera.

St. Ignasius and Fielding NE

going home- Friday May 18 and to work below- I want to show how difficult a job I have in that I usually only have one chance to take a photo of a couch and then at that time the couch is half in the shade and half in full light- even in post processing couldn't fix- but I got one with flash.
