At the end of a driveway - in this case I don't think the bicycles are being thrown out, but I may be wrong as for many years I biked to work on bikes that I either got free or paid less than $10 and they were fine.
from November 16, 2010- the nicest photo were the flash creates the ambience- not quite 6pm but it gets dark early in Montreal in the winter. It was gone before I passed by the next morning.
from November 14, 2012 - one of the more interesting couches that I have come across (will it be in that top ten?) with the photo the next morning below
I wrote about this encounter when it happened - they were throwing out the couch below and replacing it with the red one which they had carried for probably more than a kilometer!
the couch below was not there the next morning when I passed by!
from February 6, 2013 - not in season yet, nor on my bike route - but I saw these two couches while driving my son downtown and casually indicated to him that I had seen them as we drove past - He said "Just photograph them on your way home" - so I took his advice
from March 3, 2010 - the earliest I took out my bicycle to start going to work - below the next morning when there was more light (above at 7 pm with 1 second exposure - I must have rested it on a car for stability)
I have begun to have a bit of a reputation for being able to find couches, and had a number of people waiting to see if I would find any on our European holiday. I was very excited to come across this one in the old city and especially as I was able to post it at the time.
My wife and I went for a weekend getaway and I can't remember exactly where this couch was, but it was where we were in that I know we didn't stop the car to take the photo.
My sister in law is an artist who has converted a church in Mew Brunswick into her studio. We visited her and I saw this in the next door neighbour's back yard. It really isn't abandoned at the moment - but I have a premonition that after a few rainstorms it may be.
We went on the trip with a few couples, including the Mailaths ( a count) who were descended from wealthy landowners. We went to see two of the estates - one is now an Unesco site - while this one had been turned into an school for wayward girls and subsequenbtly abandoned. The building was completely empty except for these couches.
from September 8, 2012 We were visiting my brother-in-law in Ancaster for his birthday get-together when we needed to run some errands in Hamilton when I came across this photo opportunity.
from June 21, 2012 in Gatineau. We were there to see the Van Gogh exhibit in Ottawa, followed by the opening of the CHAC Re-InSitu show in Gatineau, where I had a few pieces showing. While we were looking for a Bistro to have a quick drink and light meal I came across this couch.
a three way tie for tenth- just had to put as many as I could of these couches (although not all- Paris and Frankfurt were very poor specimens). Above from January 1, 2011 near my sisters in the Catskills in upper state New York, a few days after the one below taken from a moving car while in New York City. The last one below is from February 3, 2012 while visiting my nephew and family in Fort Lauderdale
